BIO

LaVelma Mizelle serves as the Postmaster of Picayune, a Level 21 Post Office with extensive experience in postal operations. Her leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to the efficiency and service quality of her team.  She manages a team of 28 rural routes, 6 city routes, and 2 post offices with the Main PO being just a retail unit.

LaVelma started off her career as a PMR in 2007 at New Augusta, MS.  Later she would change crafts and become a RCA at Hattiesburg, MS and Lucedale MS.  In 2011, LaVelma transferred into Ellisville, MS where she became a TE and learned the city delivery operations.  In 2013, she transferred into Hattiesburg Downtown Station as a CCA. In 2016, LaVelma was promoted to Supervisor Customer Service at Hattiesburg Downtown.  In 2019, LaVelma was promoted to a Level 43 Postmaster in Seminary, MS.  In 2022, LaVelma was promoted to Postmaster in Lucedale, a level 20  Post Office.  Later that year, she would be promoted to Picayune Post Office, a level 21 Post Office where she is still working at today.

LaVelma has served as MS Chapter VP South and is currently in her 2nd term as MS Chapter's Executive Vice President.  While serving as the Executive Vice President her job duties primarily focus on membership where in 2024,  MS would sweep in all areas of membership at the Annual Membership Meeting.

When LaVelma is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family.  Especially with her daughter, Katelyn, and niece, Josilyn.
